Aircraft Capability – ETOPS
ETOPS or “Extended Twin Operations” is a set of compliance rules that govern how an aircraft on two engines can fly with relation to vicinity of an airport.
An aircraft will have what is known as an ETOPS rating or capability such as “ETOPS 180” which means an aircraft could operate up to 180 minutes away from an airport.
Factors such as aircraft reliability or inoperative systems can affect this rating and so you should ensure you receive a statement confirming the status for your aircraft where ETOPS is relevant.
