Aircraft Lease Review – Structure Repair Analysis
When it comes to the review of the Structure Repair File / Dent & Buckle we would like to highlight that this is a key area that should be done on-site at the MRO as it requires both a physical inspection of the aircraft and a technical records review to ensure that each repair has a corresponding Repair File entry.
The Repair File review process could be broken into 3 stages:
- Repair File Status Listing
- Repair File Map
- Repair File Supporting Documents
- Reviewing the Repair File Status Listing involves:
* Checking the reference number to see that it links to the Repair File Map and the supporting documents.
* The Repair description
* Exact location and dimensions (using OEM station numbering and stringer locations).
* Date, Hours/Cycles of accomplishment.
* Compliance Document Reference Number, this could be the work order, non-routine card or defect card, Engineering Order, etc.
* The repair approval basis was it performed as per the SRM, the OEM, FAA, EASA.
* Check the Repair Category (Cat A, B or C)
* Is the Repair temporary? Check the threshold/interval.
* Note any comments or remarks.
- Repair File Map
* Check that the numbering on the aircraft corresponds to the Repair File Listing.
- Repair File Supporting Docs
* Check the certified work document (Non-Routine Card or Defect Card, work order, EO, etc.
* Has the repair been performed with approved and acceptable data – SRM, RDAS, FAA 8100-9
* Verify the Release to Service – is it a Time Limited Repair (TLP) or does it have a reference to the Heavy Maintenance Visit (HMV) Certificate of Release to Service (CRS).
