Aircraft Leasing – Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) review
Last week we looked at some considerations for an STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) regarding the aircraft status; we will consider a little further now and look at what you might further look for.
Remember that the STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) covers a change from the original TC (Type Certificate).
So, when we look at the DFP (dirty fingerprints) we want to find out a lot of information about the STC.
Some of this information will include the STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) itself – this is issued when it is approved, note that an STC approval must be applicable to your authority such as EASA or the FAA as examples.
We would also then look to ensure we can use the STC, and this is evidenced with a Right to Use Letter.
The next important piece is the MDL (Master Data List) which will detail the documentation associated with the STC itself and we can check that the STC effective for AC being surveyed.
There are of course additional further examples of documentation and records checking we would carry out.
Remember also that the Aircraft Status report might note that the STC is either installed or removed; even removed STC modifications may well have continued ICA (Instructions for Continued Airworthiness).
